Information we collect
When you submit an enquiry, we receive your name, email address, selected service and message, plus any other information you choose to provide. If you email us directly or become a client, we also receive information in your correspondence and project communications.
Our website hosting and form-processing services may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, security events and request logs to deliver and protect the website. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in an initial enquiry.
How and why we use information
We use enquiry and correspondence information to answer questions, discuss services, prepare proposals and take steps you request before entering into a contract. Where those steps are at your request, the legal basis may be pre-contractual necessity (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). For general enquiry handling and managing business relationships, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).
We process relevant technical data where needed for website functionality, security and abuse prevention, on the basis of our legitimate interests in protecting and operating the site. We do not use your enquiry details to add you to an unsolicited marketing mailing list.
Who processes the information
We use Cloudflare Workers to serve the website, Formspree to receive contact-form submissions and Zoho Mail to handle business email. We also load web fonts from Google Fonts. Depending on how you use the site, these providers may receive personal or technical data necessary to deliver their services.
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where relevant, international transfers are subject to applicable data protection rules and appropriate safeguards. You can contact us to ask for further information about transfers and safeguards.
How long we keep information
We plan to delete enquiries that do not lead to work within 12 months of our last substantive contact, unless we need to retain information for an ongoing discussion, dispute or other legal reason. Where a business relationship is established, contractual, financial and other records may be retained for longer in accordance with applicable legal and accounting obligations. We will also review relevant copies held by our form provider.
Your data protection rights
Subject to the conditions in UK data protection law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, object to processing or receive information in a portable format. You have a right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Contact hello@sitehewn.com to exercise your rights or ask a question.
You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with our handling of your information.
Cookies and external resources
We do not currently use advertising cookies or website analytics through our own code. Essential hosting and security features may use technical identifiers. The site loads fonts from Google's servers, which can involve sending technical connection information to Google. If we introduce optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this notice and obtain consent where required.
